The National Organisation for Women in Sport Physical Activity and Recreation (NOWSPAR) is a Zambian organisation that advocates for women’s rights to and through sport. This women led organisation undertakes work ranging from practical support to community sports groups to enable them deliver sport programmes for girls and facilitating increased gender awareness within the sports sector, to lobbying the government to implement policies that will have a positive impact on sport and women’s access. I support the work of NOWSPAR as a Board Member and an Adviser to the Executive Director.
The Anita White Foundation (AWF) is a Charity based at the University of Chichester. The AWF aims to be a central point of reference for activists and scholars and supports women sport leaders from countries that face particular challenges. The AWF runs an Archive on the Women and Sport Movement and a Fund to support leadership development. As an AWF Scholar, I support the AWF as an Adviser and assist with coordination of the Women’s Sport Leadership Academy.
These two ground breaking organisations have been instrumental in enabling my work in the women and sport movement and are supportive of my current doctoral studies. Support includes access to networks, mentoring, advice, information, platforms, and resources.
